Glancing back upon the team and Chuck who had now positioned himself next to Blue, the multi coloured Siberian shook his head. "No Chuck, you must stay put, there is no place for you coming with me for I might not survive. I will try my best young one, but we are wasting valuable seconds here. There is only four minutes left." Blue murmured glancing at Stern, his left ear flopping down slightly. "May I go? Or shall we all get blown to pieces?" He asked grimly holding onto the ticking machine. Blue didn't k ow what on earth he was doing, or why he was doing it. He wasn't tryin to be hero Blue or anything like that. It just felt right to him. Not anything else. He just felt good doing what he was doing now.
Taking a few paces away from the group Blue dipped his head. "Stern. I need to do this.." He murmured, his tail stopping wagging. His heart racing. His muscles were poised to flee, and his eyes were on the ground. He just couldn't le the team members die. No, not all of them. One Mentours less couldn't be a bother could it? Feeling the bomb with his Tongue it was a smooth thing, and wasn't exactly a corse, rough material which was good. It would make it much easier fir Blue go run with it in his mouth.

Stern looked at Blue and then at the sled, the slice of russet fur just visible above the snow. She looked back to Blue and saw that he was serious about it. "Blue, please, do your best to come back to us. The team needs every dog, even swing dogs." She sighed, "Well, I doubt I could stop you, go, and with my hopes. Thank you for doing this."
She turned to look at Chuck, "You will stay here, though. Blue needs to do this for himself, I can understand him." She couldn't imagine sending the pup into his death. That would just not do. If the pup ran after Blue, though, she couldn't keep him here. She would have to let the dogs decide on paths for themselves, she conceded.
She looked at Blue one more time, "The sooner you go, the more chance you will have of surviving.' It was a gentle hint, but Stern's voice betrayed the fear and pride that she had for the dog.

Dipping his head to the lead dog, Blue opened his mouth to speak "I will try my best to stay alive" He murmured, trying to stop a whimper from escaping his jaw. In a blink of an eye, he was off, running down towards the horizon. The wind whipping through his fur and the snow flying up underneath his paws as he fled onwards, the constant beepimg of Tne bomb ringing in his ears as he fled. Three minutes left.
Stooping and plunging his head into the cold snow as the bomb briefly slid out of his mouth Blue carried on running. Blinking awa Tne blinding snow that made his face wet. He was nearly there. Two minutes left. Whimpering slightly and driving on getting slightly faster Blue reached the destination, and placed the bomb down. One minute left. Feeling a sickening ave of fear rise up in his stomach Blue realised what he had gotten himself into. Glancing in the distance to the now small figure of Syern Blue whimered and began to run back towards the group. 50 seconds left. Panting slightly Blue fled for his life, the seconds ticking away. 10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5. 4. 3. 2.....1.
The bomb went of, sending shatters of snow and pieces of ground, along with trees everywhere. Fire lit up the sky as the gunpowder erupted, sending shards of everything everywhere. Yelping as Blue got blown off his feet he got thrown against a large boulder nearby, slumping to the ground blackness overtook him. Ash rained from the sky, onto the ground and his pelt. Singeing some of his fur and making a small patch of fire spread across his still body. His Tongue sprawling from his mouth and onto the ground, Blue lied still.

Stern felt a sense of shock running through her body as Blue sped towards the horizon. She stood watching, unable to think about anything but the bomb in Blue's mouth. She watched him put down the bomb and start running back. AS the bomb exploded, she knew that he wasn't far enough away to escape injury, but hoped he would still be alive. As he crumpled, she sprinted forward, towards the prostrate figure.
She reached him and immediately knew that he was injured, but how badly, she wasn't sure. She bent her head, looking into his eyes, then moved her muzzle in front of his nostrils to see if he was still breathing. A slight stirring of the air kindled some hope in her. She started tenderly licking his fur, cleaning away the ash that had settled on him. "Don't die, Blue. You may not think that your position is important, but it is. I've always thought of you as my second in command." She murmured to the dog, unsure if he would hear or comprehend it, but wanting to talk to him anyway.

A low whine escaped the Swing dog's jaw, far to low and far to quet for any mere animal to hear. Leting his limp eyes flop over his eyes the medium sized dog's breathing increased slightly as his eyes flickered open. The snow around him was turning scarlet red, from an awful gash on his right front leg leading down from the knee to his ankle, and also sticking out in a funny position from when he fell, and the bomb flew him into the air. He could hear Stern, just talking to him. Her voice deep and in the distance as a loud ringing sounded in his ears. Blackness surrounded him. Nothing but blackness. It was somewhat terrifying to the Swing dog, as he loved to see the surroudning and what was happening, but nothing.
The multi coloured male husky even tried opening his mouth to whisper "Second in commend he?" But he couldn't. He was numb. Completely and utterly numb. Trying to open his mouth only succeeded in him biting his tongue and making himself loose more blood than he already had. Be longed to just spring back up and say "Hey it's me! I'm fine!" but his hope had soon dwindled.

A wave of relief washed over Stern. He was alive, at least for the moment. That's when she noticed the gash on his front leg, the weird angle that it was sticking out at. She started licking the blood away, trying not to jar the leg. Once it was somewhat cleaner, she was sure that the leg had been dislocated. She had seen this happen before, it had happened to her once, in fact. The human vet had taken her leg and twisted it back into place. It had been pure pain. She looked at Blue and sighed. It would have to be done, and she at least knew kind of what would happen. "Hang on, Blue. This will hurt, but you will feel better afterward, I promise." She took the leg in her mouth, carefully, and twisted her head. With a loud pop, the leg snapped back into its proper position.

Eyes snapping open as another wave of pain spread over him, much less painful that the first Blue whimpered loudly and tried to list his head, but failed. The fur on the other side of his head was matte with blood and debris when he finally managed Blue could sense a small cut on the top of his head. "Second in command eh? My greatest achievement me thinks" He murmured, one of his eyes watering as a small stone was in it. Licking his jaws his his bleeding Tongue Blue only succeeded in getting more blood on his fur than off of it. "Hey Stern. You were going to miss me weren't you?"He chuckled despite the pain over him. He looked quite a state at that time.
Blood was all over one half of his body along with his head gash which would most likely cause fits for him later on and the other side was matted with ash and debris from the explosion. He was sure that he had at least one dead piece of prey on him. Blue winked.

Stern let go of his leg as soon as she was done with the despicable task and looked at him, "Well, yes. And Chuck probably doesn't think you are just a swing dog either." She noticed his bleeding tongue and wanted to laugh, if the situation hadn't been to confusing. "Here, let me do that." She bent down and started licking his fu clean, to hide the confused expression in her eyes. She didn't know what she was feeling for him, bu his next question hit home. Yes, she would have missed him, of course, but not like she had missed any other dog on the team. It was something more, but she didn't know what that would be. "I would miss any dog on the team, Blue." She looked at him, pausing in her cleaning, and he had the nerve to wink. She laughed, she couldn't help it, "You."

Chuckling slightly as he could tell Stern was confused about the whole situation Blue winced. "Why was there a bomb on the sled..." He murmured in Sterns ear as she was cleaning Blue. "Chuck sees me as a role model because I'm like a brother to him. If I wasn't he wouldn't care. Neither would Narliegh, she wanted to leave remember?" He murmured laying his blood stained muzzle on Sterns shoulder and twitching his ear. His head hurt and was still spinning from the bomb but he was conscious now and would be absolutely fine. Blue didn't dare to lick Sterns, for he thought that one she wouldn't approve of it and two, he would get blood on her, which she may not like. "I am who I am" Blue murmured gazing into the far distance. His leg was still bleeding, and it hurt quite a bit.
Suddenly feeling awkward Blue took his head lightly off of Syerns shoulder and began to groom his matted fur, getting some of the debris off.

Stern hadn't even thought of that question, but now that it was in her mind, she couldn't believe she hadn't considered it, "I don't know, I don't even have the slightest idea. Maybe Mr. Brisyen brought it to use to get rid of snow and it weent off by accident?" She didn't understand how bombs worked, but that was what it could be for. "Well, you are like his brother for a reason. And you were able to stop Naleigh from leaving, unlike me, who thought of the wrong thing to say."
As he rested his muzzle on her shoulder, she held still, not sure what he was doing. When he took it off, however, she felt a curious pang that she couldn't place. This was all so confusing! Why didn't it just stay like they usually were? She went back to cleaning the blood off of him, helping him get his coat into order.

Blue blinked slightly. Getting the small stone lodged in his eye out Blue cast a curious glare out if the corner of his eye to Stern. What was wrong with that bit h? Acting all strange around him when there was no reason for it. I mean Blue was still just himself, nothing more. Wait was Stern crushing on him? No. Impossible. Blue was just the swing dog. Nothing else. Nothing special. He was no hero.
Lifting his back leg up Blue cleaned that area starting off with his tail on wich was almost completely matted and bloodied. Sighing Blue glanced up at Stern. His eyes meeting hers. For a minute there he sworn there was a force connecting him with her. Nah. He must have been going mad, musnt he?

Stern finished her part and stepped back, "I guess we can just as well stay here as wander around. Do you think you can walk back to where the sled is?" She noticed his sidelong glance and would have blushed, if dogs could. As he met her eyes, she forced herself to keep looking straight at him, even though she wanted to turn away. There was something keenly observant in his gaze, but something question as well. Or was she just imagining that last bit? She wasn't sure anymore. Maybe the explosion had addled her brains. She hadn't noticed anything about Blue ever before, why would now be any different.
A small voice in her head was nagging at her, But now he is a hero, a dog that would have given up his life to save the team. She shook the voice away, her ears flying as if she was clearing snow from her fur. If only thoughts would be as easy to get rid of!

Blue nodded. "I should think I can Stern" Blue chuckled standing up rather wobbly and stumbling a few paces. It hurt to put pressure on his leg even the slightest and Blue coils feel the warm trickling sensation of the blood running down his face. "Mhm, I think I need support"' Blue murmured gazing down at his good paws. He had never felt reliant on another dog before. Especially not a bitch. If only he ran just that little bit further. Then he wouldn't be in this mess at all and would be fine. Would live to fight another day.
Hobbling forwards slightly Blue whimpered and leant against Stern, surprised at how warm she was. Blue winced slightly. He had only just realised how cold he was.

Stern nodded in approval, ""Of course, the other option would have been me dragging you." She started slowly walking back to the sled. As Blue said he would need a support, Stern considered the request. Blue had never asked for jelp before, he had alwayd been the prouf one. Before she could consent, however, Blue was alreadh leaning against her side. "Of course you can lean against me." Stern's voice was lightly sarcastic, but not harsh, just joking. Shhe slowed her pace to match the wounded dog's steps. That was when she noticed how cold he was, "Once we get back, we'll have to bury you into the snow so you warm up a little bit." She thought it was the loss of blood that could be contributing to his lowered body temperature, or rhere could be any number of any other factors. She briefly imagined curling up around Blue, then shook the thought away. Where in the world did that wierd though cone from?, she asked herself.
