Calla was never the kind of dog to stop and appreciate beauty in the nature around her, but for some reason on that particular morning the stark contrast between the dying red, pink of the sky against the cool grey of the cliffs she stood on touched the Utonagan. She had her white muzzle lifted upward, allowing the sharp cold breeze to ruffle her fur around her neck causing a shiver to run down her spine. She opened her jaws exposing the white ivory fang to the elements and took a deep breath, taking in the earth scents all around her. Calla had never been to Retio Cliffs before but she decided there and then that the cliff were now her favorite area she had seen so far.
Calla closed her jaws with a snap and turned her luminous amber eyes away from the sky to observe the edge she was standing on precariously. She snorted quietly and pawed at the small rocks under her hardened paw pads. She had slept late into the day and now that it was nearly dark she could continue onwards. Calla bunched her muscles and jumped to a near by rock, idly wondering if she could search for a river to quench her irritating thirst.

Elvira padded through the snow, thinking about all that had brought her here, to the North. She had been wandering in the South, but after a while, something had called her up here, to the colder parts of the world she inhabited.
A flash of shadow to her left made her flinch and whip her head around, but it was just a rabbit, startled by her passing. Elvira padded on, breathing slowly to slow her heart rate.
She padded towards a cliff, she could see, at least on her right. She turned her head again to see her left surroundings, but decided that there was nothing of danger. However, as she turned her head back, she spotted a lone figure, a canine or a lupine, but she couldn't tell yet. She continued padding towards the figure, at the edge of the cliff.

Calla padded a few steps forward when her ears picked up the sound of pawsteps behind her. She froze momentarily before whipping herself around, baring her fangs at the threat. it took a second for Calla to realize it was another dog she was snarling at, but when she did her snarls lessened to a quiet, no-quite-there growl. The wary female lowered her tail slowly, trying to understand this other dog's intentions before she attacked. Her amber orbs darted around, calculating the situation, she was isolated on the boulder she stood and it was a sheer climb back down to the bottom of the cliff and the other dog stood on the part of land that lead back into the heavily forested area where she had originally come from.
Calla raised her head high, turning her attention back to the other dog. "Who are you?" She asked cautiously, not even bothering to be polite. Calla could feel all her muscles coil tightly, waiting to strike if the other female made so much as one wrong move.

Elvira turned her head to the left, keeping her good eye fixed on the figure ahead of her. She felt her muscles tense up, but forced herself to relax, and to stay relaxed. She would be no harm to this other dog, and things would work out. They always did, in the end. She raised her voice and called out, "I am known as Elvira by most. I am a wanderer who calls nowhere and everywhere my home." She kept her head up and ears pricked, but did not stare down the other female. She would not bow, but neither would she wish dominance. She preferred to be an equal to those she met, it kept her safest from their displeasure.
